Our breaking process starts on the ground. Before a horse is ever backed, we invest the time in desensitisation, handling, and trust-building that sets the tone for everything that follows.
Breaking & Training
We take a patient approach to breaking yearlings, giving each horse the time needed to become confident under saddle. Early in the process, we line drive our babies so they can understand the feel of the saddle and bit before carrying a rider. Most reach their first trip to the racetrack three to four weeks after introduction to the saddle and bridle, with every timeline tailored to the individual horse.
Tailored Progression
No two horses are the same. We assess each horse individually and build a program around their temperament, physique, and timeline — adjusting at every stage to get the best out of them.
Sales Consignment
Lucan Bloodstock offers a select consignment of two-year-olds each spring at OBS and Fasig-Tipton, as well as digital sales throughout the year. We evaluate maturity, physical capability, and early breeze work to place each horse in the sale that offers the strongest opportunity for our clients. From entries and videos to buyer outreach and sales-day presentation, we manage every detail.
